Memory (RAM) is the main thing you choose when you rent a game server. Too little and the server lags or crashes. Too much and you’re paying for nothing. Three things decide how much you need:
- Players online at the same time, not total members
- Mods and plugins, often the biggest factor
- World size, since more of the map explored means more to keep in memory
Quick guide
| Game | Small group | Medium | Large or heavily modded |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hytale | 4 GB (up to ~5) | 8 GB (10–20) | 12–16 GB |
| Project Zomboid | 4–6 GB (up to ~8) | 8 GB (up to 16 + mods) | 12–16 GB |
| Valheim | 3 GB (up to 4) | 4 GB (up to 10) | 6–8 GB with mods |
These are starting points from typical servers. Every world and mod list is different.
Signs you need more
- Memory use in the dashboard regularly sits above 85–90%
- The server crashes with “out of memory” errors in the console
- Lag spikes when players explore new areas
Upgrading is easy
You can move up a plan at any time and only pay the difference for the rest of the month. Your world, mods and settings stay exactly as they are. Not sure? Each game page has a plan finder, or ask us on Discord.
